Shannon Community Centre resounds with Echoes of Erin

On September 28, the Shannon Community Centre gave an enthusiastic welcome to a troupe of young musicians and dancers from Ireland, all members of the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. The Association of Musicians of Ireland is dedicated to preserving Irish traditional music and culture and has spawned several touring groups.

Place d’Youville was the place to be for movie aficionados on September 14. Crowds gathered at the foot of the stairs in front of the Palais Montcalm, where a band welcomed cinephiles to the opening film of the sixth Quebec City Film Festival –  Pays (Boundaries in the English version).

Celebrating the philanthropy of Jeffery Hale

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Jeffery Hale Hospital, a ceremony in Jeffery Hale’s memory was held at Mount Hermon Cemetery on September 8. Sheltered from the rain under large tents, some 200 people gathered near the Hale monument in the lower level of the cemetery.

American choristers join Festival singers at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

Members of the Worcester Chorus, one of the oldest ongoing choral groups in the United States, will make their first musical visit to Canada, performing Mozart’s Requiem on Thursday, August 18, at 12:30 p.m. as part of the Midi en Musique summer concert series at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Quebec City.
