Badminton Tournament Organised by St.Lawrence Students

On April 15th 2010, a badminton tournament was held at the Polyvalente Benoit-Vachon inSte-Marie de Beauce. The event was set up to allow people to play and improvetheir badminton skills. From 7pm to 9pm, eight teams competed in this firstedition of the badminton tournament.

They'll be missing one of their key pitchers from last year's Can-Am League championship team and their manager has moved to the front office, but the Quebec Capitales are approaching the 2010 season with a steady hand.

Kebs chalk up fourth win

The Quebec City Kebs won for the fourth time this season, beating the Maryland GreenHawks 110-101 Friday night in Quebec City.

The game was close thoughout, as the Kebs led by by four at the end of the first quarter and by only 2 points at halftime.

St-Lawrence qualifies for hockey championships

The St-Lawrence Lions Collegiate hockey team has qualified for the Dodge Cup Provincial Championships in Sherbrooke. The road was a difficult one, especially in the last few weeks, that were plagued by a number of injuries to key players.

"The boys worked very hard while competing with sudden-death play-off intensity during this qualifying weekend," the coach Mike Labadie said.

Fortier looks ahead as career comes to a close with Kebs

Ending what could his final go-round in professional basketball, Charles Fortier can look back on his career with no regrets.

"Basketball is everything," said Fortier, 31, concluding what hi believes will be his final season with the Quebec Kebs of the Premier Basketball League. "It really helped me develop.

"I've had a lot of exposure."

Quebec High School Shooting guard Peter Weston scored 28 points

Photo by Claudia Kedney-Bolduc, Shooting guard Peter Weston scored 28 points to help Quebec High School senior boys basketball team reach the provincial championships that will be held at Trois Rivieres a week from Saturday against an as yet undetermined opponent. The team is now 17-0. The QHS senior girls will also be in the provincial championships.

Lions Hockey Seniors Honored

Last Saturday evening, Cegep Champlain St. Lawrence honored four players for their contribution on and off the ice during their career as Lions hockey players.

Défi Holland Challenge Road Race

A new road race will make its debut this spring on Quebec City's running calendar. Défi Holland Challenge, featuring a 5K and 2K race will be held on Sunday, May 16.

The run, organized by the Friends of Holland School Foundation, will offer something for all members of the family.

Kebs make player moves, break losing streak

Friday night's Premier Basketball Leagues game in Quebec City, where the Quebec City Kebs played against the Halifax Rainmen, was just what the doctor ordered.

The Kebs finally ended their losing streak, which stood at nine, with a 100-97 overtime win against the Halifax Rainmen before 1500 fans at the PEPS on the campus of Laval University in Saint-Foy.

Minister praises Paralympic team

Minister of State Gary Lunn this week praised the 2010 Winter Paralympic team members and Jean Labonte, the sledge hockey captain, on being named Canada's flag-bearer at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony in Vancouver on March 12.
