Annual Craft Sale Oct 19th

The A.S. Johnson/St. Patrick School Foundation will hold its 14th Annual Craft Sale at the school, 919 Rue Mooney O., Thetford Mines, from 10 to 4 p.m. October 19, 2008.

A variety of crafts, knitting and home-baked goods and luch are available. Proceeds to fund the breakfast and other school programs.

Girl Guides struggle to find a niche in modern Quebec

Ninety-nine years ago a daring group of girls attended a scouting rally in London, England. Until that point scouting had been the exclusive domain of boys, but these girls demanded the same privileges and adventures to which the Boy Scouts were entitled. So under the guidance of Agnes Baden-Powel, the first Girl Guide troop was created.
