FAREWELL NOTICE: Stefanie JOHNSTON

Farewell to Stefanie Johnston and her family

Submitted by Aiden Roberts

Stefanie Johnston, a long-time and much-appreciated employee of the Morrin Centre, is about to make a big move. The former guided tours co-ordinator with the centre is about to move from Quebec City to Pierrefonds, Montreal.

Her former colleagues and frequent visitors to the Morrin Centre will re- member her fondly for her dedication to her work, her pleasant smile and warm personality.

While looking forward to their move, Stefanie, her partner Mark and their daughter Talia, will miss their friends here and the beautiful city of Quebec.

Here’s wishing Stefanie and her family all the best in their new home.

Edouard Blais

1943-2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edouard Blais, who left us peacefully on May 3, 2026, at Hôpital Laval.

Edouard lived a life of quiet purpose and boundless curiosity. A true intellectual, he was drawn to concepts across a wide range of subjects, always reading, always questioning, always eager to explore the next idea.

Some of you may have known him for his years as a teacher and colleague at St. Patrick’s and Holland. If you were in his Grade 5 class, you probably read The Hobbit. He was known for using humour in his teaching style.

Beyond the classroom, Edouard was a seeker of stillness and peace. He co-founded the local chapter of the Self-Realization Fellowship, where his meditation group gathered every week.

Perhaps one of his biggest passions was his garden. He loved his miniature roses and overproduction of vegetables, especially tomatoes.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, his humility, his sense of humour, his ever-curious mind, and the quiet richness he brought to every conversation and every life he touched.

“In the silence he cultivated – in thought, in spirit, and in soil – he leaves us wisdom, beauty, and a smile.”

Funeral to be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Quebec City on June 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Any donations can be made to Covenant House Toronto or Lauberivière in Québec City.
