Temps Partiel sings a song for Shannon

Simon Bilodeau has seen first hand the decades-long tragedy wreaked on the residents of Shannon.

"We were all touched by the (issues related to) the water," said Bilodeau's friend Karl Eric Lacasse. "Simon actually lived in the Red Zone."

Bilodeau was so taken by the situation he wrote a song about it.

Salon du Livres returns to Centre de Congres next week

Haitian-born author Dany Laferrière will serve as the honorary President of this year's Salon du Livres opening next Wednesday, April 7, at the Centre de Congres on Boulevard Rene Levesque. The event concludes April 11.

Caligula, the lost soul

Caligula by Albert Camus will be performed by the theatre troupe at Cégep Champlain St. Lawrence on the last weekend of March. This play, originally written in 1938, is still very relevant and is experiencing a surge in popularity these days.

Morrin Centre using its imagiNation

Neil Bissoondath, a noted writer of fiction, and an outspoken critic of Canada's system of multiculturalism who now lives in Quebec City, and Quebec-born comic book author Guy Deslisle will be among the 12 Canadian authors featured April 7-11 at ImagiNation 2010, a writers festival at the Morrin Centre, 44 chaussée des Écossais.

Performing Arts Festival arrives at CQSB

Continuing to move up, the Central Québec School Board's annual high school Performing Arts Festival this year is moving out. The high school edition of the festival will take place March 31 at 7 p.m. at Le Centre Montmartre, 1669, Ch. St-Louis.

The elementary festival will take place Friday, April 9 at Everest Elementary School, 2280 rue Laverdière.

Childhood Heroes

At one point or another, everyone has had a childhood hero; a person who we admire, respect and in some cases, or maybe most cases, we want to be. My childhood hero was Sherlock Holmes. I'd seen all the movies, with as many personalities as there were James Bonds, from Jeremy Brett to George C.

Saturday night, the Catholic Women's League of Shannon will dedicate its 44th annual Irish Show to Ellen and Gene O'Grady.

Quebec singer assaulted

Popular Quebec singer Kevin Parent says he was attacked the night of Feb. 12 by a group of what he said were 10 people causing him to suffer a concussion and caused him to cut short his Feb. 17 performance at the Olympic Games. Parent, though, said he declined to press charges.
