Bora Parc celebrates first anniversary with a beach party

Village Vacances Valcartier held a winter beach party to celebrate Bora Parc’s first anniversary. Crowds of people, families and children entered the tropical atmosphere for a swim in the wave pool, a surf in the Flywater, a quick descent on the many slides or a smooth and relaxing float along the river.

Hats, Heels and Headpieces at the Musée de la Civilisation

Early 20th-century fashions are now on display at the Musée de la Civilisation. Ten years ago, the heritage- and fashion-conscious couple Annie and Pierre Cantin donated over 5,000 items of clothing and accessories to the museum, of which 1,800 are part of the Hats, Heels and Headpieces exhibit. On behalf of her late husband, Annie Cantin opened the exhibit on Nov. 28.

The Community Christmas Hamper Campaign is in full swing. All of the campaign’s elves are hard at work behind the scenes to organize this wonderful annual community initiative.

Quebec City’s German Christmas Market was officially opened on Nov. 23 to the sound of Bavarian alphorns in front of City Hall. 

A visit to the 39th Salon de Noël in Sillery

The Christmas spirit is spreading through the city. Residents and businesses are decorating their homes and stores. Christmas markets and fairs, such as the Salon de Noël at the Charles-H.-Blais Library on Avenue Maguire in Sillery, are open. Until Dec. 10, the public can admire and purchase works of art, scarves, hats, gloves, toys and more.

Sharpen your skates! They’re rolling out the rink on the Plains of Abraham

Workers for the Glaces CT company are rolling out the many metres of tubing required to build the large refrigerated ice rink on the Plains of Abraham. The large rink or ring of ice, now celebrating its fifth year, is growing in popularity, last winter attracting some 60,000 skaters.

APPEAL expands to Charlesbourg

To be in operation for more than 30 years is quite an achievement for APPEAL, a social club in Quebec City whose goal is to assist their members in developing and retaining English language skills. Now the Sainte-Foy-based non-profit organization is branching out to offer Monday morning conversation workshops in Charlesbourg starting Jan. 15, 2018.

The Palais Montcalm stage was a musical playground last Thursday evening as Les Violons du Roy, directed by Jonathan Cohen, welcomed Vincent Lauzer (recorder) and Mathieu Lussier (bassoon), to join with them for a concert of delightful baroque pieces by Bach and Telemann.
