Suzette Helen Bjornstad 1920 – 2015

Suzette Helen Bjornstad (nee Gale) died willingly January 16, 2015, in her 94th year, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC, surrounded by loving family and supported by caring nurses.

She was the blessed and loving daughter of Herbert and Etta (nee Cameron) Gale, who gave her a magical start to life growing up in Quebec City and the charm of Lac Larron.

She survived Harold and 'Sonia' Lorna (nee Duff) Duncan who gave her life, "the girls" - Norma, Marge, Kit and Anna - who framed so much of it, and Miss Thorpe who guided it.
She served in Ottawa and Halifax during WWII with the WRENs and later married Dan LeRoy, raising their children Ian LeRoy, Shane LeRoy, Trudi Buckingham, and Max LeRoy primarily in Sillery and Lac St. Charles, Quebec.

In Waterloo, Ont. she loved and lost Tore Bjornstad, then spent the rest of her life in Victoria and Lac St. Charles with friends and family, enjoying being a grandmother to Trudi and Hugh Buckingham's children: Katie Morris and husband Paul, Lizzie McQuilkin and husband Chris, John Buckingham and wife Sabine, and Robert Buckingham and wife Vanessa.

Later, the joy of her great-grandchildren: Lauren, Lucy, George and Max Morris, Kitty McQuilkin and Neeve Buckingham delighted her.

Recently Shane brought her a new daughter-in-law, Thuy, and she anticipated Robert and Vanessa's child. She will be laid to rest by and amongst family and friends this summer in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Sillery, Quebec.

She was special and she will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph and/ or Mount Hermon Cemetery.
