St. Lawrence Lions golf team wins tenth Collegiate Provincial Championship

The Cegep Champlain-St. Lawrence golf team won their 10th Collegiate Provincial Championships since 2000 last weekend at the Lac St-Joseph Golf Course. Fred Colgan’s protégés shot a cumulative of 608 (302-306) over the two-day tournament. This was 36 shots better than second place John Abbott College, which was only 8 shots behind the Lions going into the weekend.

Quebec City native Edward Godin Gosselin, an 18-year-old defensive lineman who formerly played on the St. Patrick’s High School team, is flying high these days. After his outstanding performance at the IMG Madden Football Academy in Florida this summer, Gosselin was invited to join two American University NCAA Division Two football teams.

The annual pilgrimage of hockey’s most prized possession stopped in Quebec City last week. Proudly carrying the Stanley Cup into the region was Boston Bruin forward, Patrice Bergeron who helped propel the Bruins to Stanley Cup victory over the Vancouver Canucks in this year’s NHL finals.

After a year-long battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, Shawn Bélanger, 20 ,will return home to Quebec next week with good news: two months of clean scans.

QHS Student drafted in First Round of the QMJHL

This past Saturday, the QMJHL held its entry draft at the Coliseum Desjardins in Victoriaville. Over 200 hockey players from Quebec, the Maritimes and the United States were vying for spots on the 17 teams in the league.
