Travel the world without leaving Quebec City! The MondoKarnaval festival, formerly known as L'Afrique en fête, will take place on June 28 and 29 at the Cartier-Brébeuf National Historic Site in Limoilou.

Some 25 cultural and community organizations from around the city will take part in the parade, scheduled to begin at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Over 40 local performers from a variety of cultural and musical traditions will take the stage for two afternoons of concerts. There will be an art market with crafts from around the world and opportunities to taste the cuisine of dozens of different countries. There will be soccer games and music and dance workshops on site as well, for an extra cost.

A launch party is planned for Friday, June 27, at the Petit Impérial on Rue Saint-Joseph. The party, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature The Voice contestant and Haitian-Canadian singer Valérie Clio, Senegalese guitarist Oumar N'diaye Xosulman and a live DJ.
