New Liverpool Elementary School students ceremonially cut the blue ribbon to officially open their school. Overseeing the big event are Lévis city councillor Brigitte Duchesneau, acting director general of the Ville de Lévis Dominic Deslauriers, Minister responsible for Relations with English-speaking Quebecers Éric Girard, Education Minister and MNA for Lévis Bernard Drainville, chair of the CQSB Council of Commissioners Stephen Burke, former CQSB director general Stephen Pigeon, CQSB vice-chair Jean Robert, director general Stéphane Lagacé and assistant director general Nancy L’Heureux, and principal of New Liverpool Elementary School Catherine O’Gallagher. On Sept. 30, the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, the National Battlefields Commission inaugurated two works by Indigenous artists at the Governors’ Promenade and Kiosk. The large orange, silver and blue rings form Remembering Through Beads, a sculpture by Wendat artist Ludovic Boney. The bronze statue with a jade-green patina finish standing tall in the background is The 3 WatchMen by Haida hereditary chief and artist 7IDANsuu James Hart.
