Christmas Hamper Campaign returns for its 31st year

Submitted by Chafic LaRochelle, communications technician, Jeffery Hale Community Partners

The Quebec City Community Christmas Hamper Campaign marks its 31st year this November, bringing together the English-speaking community of the greater Quebec City region to help local individuals and families during the holidays.

Running from Nov. 1 to Dec. 19, the 2026 campaign invites community members to donate money or non-perishable food, volunteer their time and spread the word. This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000.

Financial donations help purchase fresh produce and other essential items to supplement donated goods. Contributions can be made online or by cheque, with details available at qchampers.ca. Donations are processed and managed in partnership with the Quebec City English-Speaking Community Foundation. Online donors should select “Christmas Hamper Campaign 2026” under “Direct your gift.”

Non-perishable food donations are welcome at participating collection locations. Donors are asked to check best-before dates, as expired, homemade, opened or previously used food items cannot be accepted.

Volunteers are also needed to help collect, sort and pack donations, as well as to deliver Christmas hampers to house- holds throughout the region.

Since 1995, the campaign has brought together local organizations, volunteers and donors to support people in need during the holiday season. Its co-ordinating committee includes representatives from nearly 20 institutions in the English- speaking community.

For donation locations, volunteer information and other ways to contribute, visit qchampers.ca.
