OBITUARY
Beverley McBain
(June 11, 1942-April 25, 2025)
Our beloved Beverley Jane McBain passed away on April 25, 2025, in Oakville, Ont. She was born on June 11, 1942, to John and Ida Hicks in Quebec City and grew up in the village of Valcartier alongside her five siblings.
Bev is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 59 years, Bryce Kenneth McBain, also from Valcartier. She leaves behind her daughters Barb Cooper and Lisa McBain, son-in-law Dave Cooper, and cherished grandchildren Cole and Kendall. Bev’s memory will also be treasured by her brothers Marty Hicks (Carol) and Bert Hicks (Eileen), brother-in-law Don McEwen, brother-in-law Keith McBain (Joy), and sister-in-law Dianne Richardson (Bob). We take great comfort knowing she is now reunited with her sisters Margaret Cornforth and Lois McEwen, her brother Ross Hicks, brothers-in-law Bryce Cornforth and Derek McBain and sister-in-law Claire McBain.
Bev’s devotion to her family and friends strengthened us all. She was a loyal friend to many. From her loving embraces, careful listening, calm presence, or her big, beautiful smile, Bev left an indelible mark on all our hearts. Cole and Kendall were her shining stars, though. ‘Nanny’ rarely missed their countless sporting events and any opportunity to cheer them on. Bev’s other greatest joy came from time spent with the extended family where she was known to jump in on a sing-along, meet Bryce on the dance floor, or join a game of euchre – and you definitely wanted Bev on your team.
Bev’s generosity knew no bounds. Volunteerism was a constant in her life, whether through the Church, Wellspring, Acclaim Health or supporting Bryce with many Shriners activities.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
A visitation was held on May 2 at Glen Oaks Memorial in Oakville. Her funeral took place on May 3 at Trafalgar Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at Glen Oaks Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Wellspring Cancer Support Oakville or the Canadian Cancer Society – Breast Cancer Research.
