OBITUARY: Linda Carol (Pike) SMITH 1948-2025

OBITUARY

Linda Carol (Pike) Smith

1948-2025

Linda Carol (Pike) Smith, 77, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Dec. 14, 2025, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.

Born on Jan. 10, 1948, in Quebec City, Linda was the daughter of the late William John Pike Sr. and Margaret Julia (Alcrow) Pike. She and her late husband, Barry, resided in Halifax; Montreal; Ottawa; Aylmer, Que.; Waterloo, Ont.; and Stokes Bay, Ont. before returning to Halifax in 2014, where Linda built a full and meaningful life enriched by family and many dear friends.

Linda was employed for many years with Atomic Energy and Manulife Insurance prior to her retirement. She was widely respected for her strong work ethic, reliability and warm, welcoming presence.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Barry Smith; her parents; her brothers William Pike Jr., Stanley Pike, David Pike and Harry Pike; her sisters Mary Lapointe and Barbara Stewart; her step-grandchildren David Smith and Brian Smith; and her cherished cats, Missy, Boom Boom and Boots.

Linda is survived by her brother, Earl Pike (Louise); her stepchildren James Smith (Elspeth), Patti Ouellette, and Joan Fournier (Marc); her step-grandchildren James Smith Jr. (Heather), Michelle McCulley (Garett), Scott Ouellette (Amy), Christopher Fournier (Elizabeth), Bruce Fournier (Samantha), Kaitline Fournier, Jesslyn Kinney (Rob), Janelle Kelly, Jennifer O’Hearn (Rick); 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is also lovingly remembered by her Saint John, N.B. family: nephews Glen Stewart Jr. (Karen), Gary Stewart (Kim Rice) and Greg Stewart (Sabrina), and niece Kelly Stewart; along with her dear friend, Pat Roberts.

Linda will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, humour and unmistakable sarcastic wit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and by those with whom she shared countless cherished moments and lasting memories. In recent years, some of Linda’s fondest times were spent on her “girls’ getaway trips” and during her annual summer vacations to Prince Edward Island.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the entire ER and ICU medical teams at the QEII Halifax Infirmary, especially Dr. O’Reilly and Dr. Beed, as well as nurses Kelly, Jennah, Kira, Haley, Jasmine, Kat, Kayla, and Olivia, for their exceptional compassion and professional care. Nurse and great-niece Molly Vautour was an incredible support during this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. In accordance with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment to occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
