It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Valiquet (Blackadder). Shirley was born in Quebec City in 1937 and passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Alexandria, Ontario, at the age of 89.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Valiquet. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Peter and John (Wendy Kiley Valiquet); her cherished grandson, Connor (Alyson Briand); as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends and neighbours whose lives she touched throughout the years.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the awesome staff at the Valley Garden Retirement Home and the amazing personal support workers (PSW’s) who helped her each and every day. Although Shirley’s stay there was brief, the kindness, compassion, and warmth shown by everyone brought her great comfort, and she was sincerely grateful for the care she received. Heartfelt appreciation is also extended to the incredible team at the Glengarry Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care, compassion, and support that they provided her and her family.

Shirley will be remembered for her strength, kindness, love of dogs and nature in general and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
