This was the scene at 45 Rue Ste-Geneviève after the dilapidated 173-year-old house had been demolished during the night of May 19-20. Local residents were evacuated as a precaution. Those living in number 41 (the blue building on the left) are still not able to return to their apartments due to the proximity of the ongoing demolition work. To the right is the terrasse of the former À la Bastille Chez Bahüaud restaurant, which has also been sitting empty and neglected for many years. (Photo by Shirley Nadeau)
