Chalmers-Wesley United Church offers free English lessons for children
Submitted by Chalmers-Wesley United Church
Starting in mid-September, free English language lessons are offered to children ages five to 12 at Chalmers-Wesley United Church at 78 Rue Ste-Ursule.
The lessons, led by two qualified English-as-a-second-language teachers and members of the congregation – Susa Bernard and Stacy Chriswell – will be held on the first and third Sunday of every month in the church hall from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The first class was held on Sunday, Sept. 15, and classes will continue on Oct. 6 and 20, and so forth.
These classes will be open to ALL children ages five to 12 in the Quebec City area. Their parents do not have to be regular attendees of worship services at Chalmers-Wesley Church. The objective is to help French-speaking children understand and learn English along with their English-speaking classmates.
For more information or to register, please contact Rev. Andrew Lairenge via the church office at mail@ chalmerswesley.org or call 418-692-2640.
These free lessons are made possible by a grant from the United Church of Canada Foundation’s Seeds of Hope program.
