Newly restored prison cells come alive at the Morrin Centre

The Quebec Common Gaol is the latest historic exhibition in Quebec City. This exhibition depicts the life and times of the people who were imprisoned there, including men, women and children, between 1813 and 1868.

During the cocktail party before the Literary Feast held at the Morrin Centre last Tuesday, Madame Christine St. Pierre, Minister of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women presented LHSQ President David Blair with a cheque in the amount of $136,000.  The funds are to be used for the ongoing restoration work of the Morrin Centre.

Literary Feast

On December 7, 2010, the Literary and Historical Society of Québec will be holding its 2nd edition of the Literary Feast, an annual fundraising dinner. Former Quebec City mayor and Morrin Centre supporter, Jean-Paul L'Allier will act as Honorary Chair.

Morrin Centre nears fundraising goal for renovations

It's down to the short strokes for the Literary and Historical Society in its search for funds to complete renovations to the Morrin Centre.

Centre Director Simon Jacobs said last week that he has received word that the City has approved a grant that will leave Historical Society "offhand about $110,000" short of its goal.
