We really need your help! Christmas Hamper Campaign Update

As you probably know, your Community Christmas Hamper Campaign has now switched into high gear. Fund raising events are going forward, food is being ordered, boxes of non perishable items are starting to fill up around town and many of you have already sent in generous donations to campaign headquarters.

This week’s mystery photos, offered by Diane Kameen at Jeffery Hale, feature an oil painting of a woman, hanging in the Jeffery Hale boardroom for years, who might have been the director of the Jeffery Hale’s nursing school. Simons Family’s Tourny fountain gift is being repaired

I particularly enjoy reading "Memorials and Things of Fame" along with Cathy's notes, and photos and articles coming from Cpl Kyle Giffin while in Afghanistan. I still have on my fridge the picture of the cat born in Camp Mirage ! It makes me think of our troops out there...

"Language is an integral part of culture; it is the essence of culture," says Linda Siouï, a member of a Linguistic Committee and Yawenda's organizer, a project set to revive the Huron-Wendat language, now defunct in preference for French, in Wendake. She has worked for many years on the cause, speaking out in her 1992 article Is there a future for the Huron Language?

The November 11 issue of the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph carried the story of my father as a prisoner of the Germans during the last nine months of World War I, based partly on a diary that he wrote while being imprisoned in the town of Lahr.
