On a small stage set up in the cafeteria, Champlain–St. Lawrence students presented a wonderful production of Jean Anouilh’s Antigone, an adaptation of Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy, from April 6 to 9.

At the corner of Rue Sainte-Ursule and the Ruelle des Ursulines in Old Quebec is an attractive old bed-and-breakfast. A Scottish immigrant named James Thompson bought the lot in 1793 and had the house built, and it was here he – and his descendants – lived until 1957.

My Canada geese are back!

Look who came knocking at my door this morning (April 8, 2016). Yes, my Canada geese couple have found their way home again this year. Even if technically it is spring, it really doesn’t feel like spring. 

The sound is sweet to my ears

It started slowly over a period of a few years. I found myself asking people to repeat what they’d said, or I would raise the volume on the radio when I entered the room. I also found myself pushing the phone closer to my ear so that I could hear better.
