THROUGH YOUR LENS: St. Lawrence River makes annual visit to Rue Dalhousie Photos by Joe Lonergan with text by Shirley Nadeau The St. Lawrence River rose over its banks in…
Joe Lonergan captured this image of the spring tide waters of the St. Lawrence River covering Rue Dalhousie and the moat in front of the Royal Battery on the morning of April 30. He said this one is his favourite “because it captures so much: the wall, the moat, the ferry high in the water, the truck.” (Photo by Joe Lonergan)
Brrrr! A small “ice cone” can be seen forming slightly to the right of Montmorency Falls in this wintry photo, taken Jan. 13. In the 19th century, giant cones up to 100 feet high would form at the base of the falls, to the delight of climbers, sledders and artists, but the construction of a power station at the top of the falls in 1885 diverted much of the frozen spray. Is this a distant landscape? Not at all! It’s very close! QCT reader Roger Bertrand captured this landscape on Aug. 8 during a short kayak trip on the Cap-Rouge River from from the Parc nautique de Cap-Rouge. Send us your photos – of natural beauty or a fun or newsworthy community event – and we’ll be happy to consider them for publication in this space. (Photo by Roger Bertrand)
