There is something empowering about hearing the accomplishments, hopes and dreams of women on the cusp of entering university or returning to school.
Each year, young and mature women from the greater Quebec City area apply for one of the Quebec City Women’s Club bursaries. After careful selection, a few of these women are interviewed by members of the Club’s Bursary Committee.

It is a privilege for everyone in the room. These women have worked so hard to achieve their goals, to play a role in their communities. As they they prepare to dive into a new world and carve out a place for themselves in a career of their choosing, the excitement is tangible.

The future is bright. Hearing these determined women speak their futures into being is simply inspiring.

The Quebec City Women’s Club has been selling used books to build funds for bursaries for over 70 years. The community comes together to participate in the Club’s annual Book Fair on the last Saturday in October to enable this financial support for several women in the region to continue their post-secondary education.

The Quebec City Women’s Club has extended its bursary application period exceptionally this year to April 15, 2018, due to unforeseen circumstances.

Two bursaries are available to women entering or continuing their post-secondary education: one for a woman, 25 years of age or younger, and one for a mature woman, over 25 years of age.

The Bursary Committee scores on the following categories: financial need, academic aptness, sense of vision, civic Involvement, clarity of message in essay. Recommendations will also serve as an influence.
