OBITUARY

Gail QUINN

1950-2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Addie Quinn, on Feb. 18, 2026, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Bignell and Kenneth Addie. Gail is survived by her husband, Kevin Quinn, her daughter Candice Quinn and her granddaughter Sophia Merendina-Quinn. She leaves behind Pamela Cheers and many other cousins, as well as many friends who were the same as family. Kevin and Candice want to express their gratitude to Pam and those friends who were constant presences during her final days.

Gail was a proud alumna of Quebec High School and Bishop’s University. Dedication to Quebec City’s English community was the defining feature of Gail’s life. She was a co-host and researcher for the television show Bonjour Québec on CKMI-TV and a reporter for their news department. Her voice could also be heard weekly on CBC Radio from 1993 to 1998, where she served as a community correspondent. Gail served on the board of directors of the Citadel Foundation, including four years as its president. She served seven years on the Voice of English-speaking Québec board of directors, concluding her tenure with a year as president. Gail also contributed her insight and energy as a member of the Jeffery Hale Foundation board of directors and executive for six years, and she lent her support to the board of directors of McGreevy Manor. Her professional and volunteer paths often intertwined: she served as volunteer co-ordinator for the Holland Centre and later as co-ordinator of the Jeffery Hale Friends’ Foundation and Community Art Program. She was a trained and talented painter. Gail brought a rare blend of kindness, competence and wholehearted dedication that strengthened the institutions she cared for and the community she loved.

The celebration of her life will take place on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 at Lépine Cloutier, Complexe funéraire Maison Gomin, 2026 Boul. René-Lévesque Ouest, Québec. Condolences will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A remembrance service will take place at 3 p.m., and a reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Amis du Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s Friends’ Foundation, Suite 2000, 1270 Chemin Sainte-Foy, Québec City, QC G1S 2M4.
