The best of VEQ’s Fall Fest

The gymnasium of St. Vincent’s Elementary School was buzzing with excitement early on Saturday, September 17, as local schools, institutions, youth groups, organizations, and businesses, including the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, set up their information booths and kiosks for the annual Fall Fest, organized by Voice of English-speaking Quebec.

It was the first of its kind, for the Musée Nationale des Beaux-Arts du Québec (MNBAQ) and for the OSQ’s maestro Fabien Gabel, as he conducted members of the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec in the atrium of the new Pierre Lassonde Pavilion.

Place d’Youville was the place to be for movie aficionados on September 14. Crowds gathered at the foot of the stairs in front of the Palais Montcalm, where a band welcomed cinephiles to the opening film of the sixth Quebec City Film Festival –  Pays (Boundaries in the English version).

Quebec City Women's Club kicking off their 79th year!

The Quebec City Women's Club will be kicking off their 79th year on Wednesday, September 28, at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner at Le Petit Coin Breton restaurant in Place de la Cité Shopping Centre. We'll enjoy a great dinner prepared for us by the chefs and dinner prices are reasonable.

The 26th annual Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s Friends’ Foundation Golf Tournament was held at the Cap-Rouge golf course on Friday, September 16, and was followed by a dinner at the clubhouse that evening.

A rousing concert was held at the Église Saints-Martyrs-canadiens last Saturday evening to mark the opening of the 2016-2017 season of Les Amis de l’Orgue.

Filles du Roy honoured with a commemorative plaque

In the late afternoon of September 16, the Société d’histoire des Filles du Roy hosted a cocktail to celebrate the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honouring the first Filles du Roy to arrive in New France. The event was held at the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site located beneath Dufferin Terrace. 

Fit Hippie: La Course des Femmes

The second annual gathering of female “Fit Hippies” took place at Baie de Beauport on Sunday, September 18. Over 100 women arrived, most wearing a Fit Hippie tank top and yoga pants, prepared for a day of activities such as Yoga, Zumba, and workshops.
