The 60th Provincial Convention of the Quebec Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion was held in Quebec City on May 17, bringing together over 100 volunteer directors representing all the branches of this movement whose mission is to support and recognize former military personnel.

The opening ceremony took place in the traditional military fashion. Former presidents and executive officers were escorted to their places of honour to the sound of the bagpipes, under the direction of the sergeant-at-arms.

Participants then paraded from the Québec Inn, where the convention was being held, to the Royal Canadian Legion, Lt. Col. J. Charles Forbes RMWO Quebec, Branch 265, on Boul. Hamel.

A ceremony was held on site to commemorate those who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives during conflicts. Veterans laid wreaths at the foot of the Korean War Memorial.

Comrade Thomas D. Irvine, C.D., president of the Quebec Command, recited the Act of Remembrance.

Attendees had the privilege of meeting guest speaker Brig. Gen. (ret.) Gaston Côté.

Discussions between comrades from different regions of Quebec were brief but highly instructive. The delegates returned to the Québec Inn to continue the convention with a busy schedule, including the election of a new executive committee.
