LEGION REPORT
Legion volunteer awarded Crown Society of Canada medal
Submitted by Jean Gervais, communications director, Branch 265, Royal Canadian Legion
Former lieutenant-governor J. Michel Doyon recently presented the Special Commemorative Medal of the Crown Society of Canada to Francine Beaudry, a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces who has distinguished herself through her outstanding commitment to Branch 265 of the Royal Canadian Legion and to the Indigenous veterans’ community.
The Crown Society is a non-profit organization based in the province of Quebec, dedicated to promoting the monarchy in Canada.
The society was created due to a perceived lack of motivation on the part of other organizations to promote the institution of the Canadian Crown.
At the ceremony, held on Sept. 21 at Quai 1635 in Quebec City, eight awardees had the privilege of receiving this honour from Doyon, who was accompanied by Jean-François Provençal, his former chief of staff.
Along with Beaudry, the other recipients of the medal were Almeida Wilson, Jacques Bouchard, Maj. (ret.) Paulette Brousseau, Dr. Majed Ghattas, Denis Pelletier, Denis Perrier and Serge St-Pierre.
