A celebration of ABBA music is currently taking place in Quebec City with performances at the Capitole Theatre on Wednesday to Sunday evenings until Aug. 30. The four lead singers, 10 dancers who also sing backup, three musicians (guitars and electric piano), and a comical “cruise director” are delighting audiences with their exuberant singing, choreography and glitzy costumes.

The QCT had (almost) front-row seats for the Aug. 12 show. The stage is set as a white- and-blue village on a Greek island where ABBA’s greatest hits ring out in true “Mamma Mia” style. The concert hall is transformed into a giant disco ball, pulsating to legendary hits such as “Dancing Queen,” “SOS,” “Super Trouper,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Mamma Mia,” and “Waterloo.” Many people sang along or got up to dance in the aisles when the spirit and the music moved them.

Audiences can choose between tickets for the show only, which starts at 8:30 p.m., or the dinner-and-show formula with meals served before the music begins. For more details, visit abbacelebration.com/en/home.
