On May 16, family, friends and colleagues of teacher Reid Duns gathered in front of Sainte-Foy Elementary School to bid him farewell as he began the first leg of his cross-Canada bicycle ride to raise funds for awareness and research into Alzheimer’s disease. His goal is to raise $10 for every kilometre he rides, a total of $70,000 for the 7,000 km he plans to pedal from coast to coast. His sponsor, Bégin Performance, was present at his send-off to give tune-ups to cyclists who were going to follow Duns from the school to the Québec-Lévis ferry terminal. La Maison Smith Café provided coffee and hot chocolate.
