The hockey world is mourning the loss of legendary Montreal Canadiens goaltender Ken Dryden, who died of cancer at age 78 on Sept. 5. He backstopped the Canadiens to six Stanley Cups in the 1970s and suited up for Canada at the famous 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union. He stepped away from the game at just 31 to become a lawyer. He later served as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Liberal MP for the Toronto-area riding of York Centre from 2004 to 2011, and minister of social development under Paul Martin. Known as a cerebral student of the game, he wrote several acclaimed hockey books. (QCT staff) (Photo by Denis Brodeur via Martin Brodeur on X)
