OBITUARY

Elizabeth Lovett
1953-2025
It is with deep sadness and great love that the family of Elizabeth Lovett announce her passing on July 4, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born in Quebec City to Reginald Lovett and Sheila Brumby, Elizabeth grew up to be a good-natured child. The star of her high school basketball team, she was known for a can’t-miss shot and her fearless attitude. Her player number, 14, is still proudly worn by members of the family almost 60 years later.
As a young woman, she was eager to travel and experience new cities. One adventure held more sway than any other – starting a family – which she embarked on with pride and joy. She raised her three children with unconditional love, often calling them her greatest achievement in life, and extended that love to close friends and family.
A proud citizen of Quebec City, she gave back through years of faithful community service and volunteering, notably in supporting Saint Brigid’s Home. Elizabeth, a.k.a. “Liz” and “Lizzie,” will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Genevieve Lavoie, Peter Lavoie [Jennifer Wende] and Mark Lavoie [Kathleen Bonnet]; her five grandchildren, Gianna, Giulia, Jaya, Louis and Tom; her brother John Lovett [Louise]; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She will be reunited with her parents, her sister Lorraine Pennings, her brother Eric Lovett Sr., her nephews Jeffrey Michael Cherbaka and Eric Lovett Jr., her niece Jessica Martin and many other loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at Domaine Cataraqui in Quebec City (2141 Chemin Saint-Louis). The family will be present from 10 a.m. to receive condolences.
A gathering for family and friends will be held following the service at Domaine Cataraqui.
Memorial donations can be made to the Jeffrey Michael Cherbaka Foundation.
The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the pneumology and palliative care teams of Hôpital Laval for their care and compassion.
Rest in peace, Liz. Your laughter and love gave us wings.
