OBITUARY

Nicole Garon
(1942-2024)
Nicole Garon passed away peacefully in Quebec City after a short illness on Nov. 15, 2024. Originally from Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Que., she was the daughter of the late Adrien Garon and the late Simonne Bureau and the sister of the late Louiselle Garon.
Nicole was a primary school teacher by profession and often worked in some very outlying regions, including on l’Isle-aux-Grues, near Montmagny. She was very devoted to her profession, and since she never married nor had children of her own, she considered her students as her children and treated them accordingly.
Some 40 years ago, Nicole started attending services at Chalmers-Wesley United Church, where she sang in the choir and became good friends with its many members. She will be remembered by her many friends at Chalmers for the twinkle in her eye, her kindness, her sense of humour and her strength of character in the face of adversity.
A memorial service that included some of her favourite hymns was held for her at Chalmers-Wesley on June 28.
On July 26, she was laid to rest during a short ceremony attended by her closest friends at the Cimetière Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens, alongside her parents and her beloved sister Louiselle.
