Aug. 12 to 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Quebec contemporary artist Tanya Morand presents her solo exhibition Drifting in the Cities at the Morrin Centre. Discover a stunning collection of paintings and silkscreen prints by a local artist, whose work has been featured in galleries across Canada and in the U.S., U.K. and Europe. Explore the exhibit for free during the Morrin Centre’s opening hours as part of Arts Alive programming.
Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 12:05 p.m. – Musical Wednesdays at Chalmers-Wesley United Church features Le Duo Cziffra: French classical pianists Ludmilla Guilmault and Jean-Noël Dubois, who will program “Airs et danses populaires” by Bach, Rameau, Brahms, Satie, Daquin, Liszt, Debussy, Ravel and Grieg, both solo and four hands on one keyboard. Thursday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Le Duo Cziffra will give a free public master class at Chalmers-Wesley United Church. All levels of students from local music schools are welcome. Thursday, Aug. 13 at 12:30 p.m. – Midis en Musique at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity features soprano Susan Elizabeth Brown and pianist Greg Couture, who present Ouvre ton coeur – an opera exploring the theme of an invitation to love. Aug. 13 to 16 – Le Festibière + de Québec takes place on the Quais de l’Espace 400e, overlooking Louise Basin in the Old Port of Quebec. The quayside will be transformed into a festive playground with local beer specialties, refreshing flavours and a holiday atmosphere. For details, visit infofestibiere.com/quebec.
Aug. 14 and 15 – The 12th Arts Alive festival will be held at the Morrin Centre on the Chaussée des Écossais with two days of concerts and activities. All outdoor activities are free and require no registration. Evening concerts in College Hall featuring Meika and Sarah Vanderzon require a ticket. Until Aug. 14 – The Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand presents a free program showcasing local music – from folk to hip-hop, including pop, soul, blues and jazz manouche. The 2026 edition spotlights emerging artists and voices from diverse communities, including Indigenous artists. Children’s performers also take the stage on select mornings, offering fun and engaging moments for kids and families. Aug. 17 to 23 – Quebec City will be buzzing with excitement during the International Body Music Festival (Festival international de musique corporelle)! Some 40 local and international artists will offer more than 90 activities where the body becomes an instrument and a universal language. Organized by Les Malchaussées in partnership with PLAYGROUND for the arts and Crosspulse, this is the first time the event has been held in Canada in its long format. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 12:05 p.m. – Musical Wednesdays at Chalmers-Wesley United Church features organist Francis Gagnon and saxophonist Nicholas Gagnon, who will present a variety of contemporary works for organ and saxophone by Gilles Fortin (1932- ), Rachel Laurin (1961-2023), Ruth Watson Henderson (1932 – ) and Denis Bédard (1950 – ) as well as one of his own compositions. Thursday, Aug. 20 at 12:30 p.m. – Midis en Musique at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity features Le Quatuor Al Fresco: Clara Gilbert (violin and oboe), Marie Jobin (violin), William Foy (viola) and Vincent Dorion-Thériault (cello) with an impressionist program centred on Debussy’s quartet. Aug. 21 and 22 – The second annual Festival Île en Musique takes place on the quay of Saint-Jean de l’Île d’Orléans. Free outdoor concerts with Nathalie Simard, Encore Malade, Princesses, Les lunatiques, Sandra Contour and Émile Bilodeau and a jam session uniting everyone on Saturday afternoon. Until Aug. 22 – Les Grands Feux Loto-Québec launches fireworks from a barge on the St. Lawrence River between Quebec City and Lévis. Theme nights include Halloween (Aug. 13), New Country (Aug. 15), the space exploration-themed Cosmos (Aug. 18), Platinum Electro (Aug. 20) and a birthday party to celebrate season’s end and the 30th anniversary of the Grands Feux (Aug. 22) The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with themed activities on both banks of the river, followed by the musical fireworks displays at 10 p.m. For details, visit lesgrandsfeux.com/en.
Until Aug. 22 – The legendary musical Les Misérables is now at the Grand Théâtre in a breathtaking, large-scale production, featuring all the grandeur and emotion that have made it a timeless masterpiece.
