Voice of English-speaking Quebec (VEQ) held its sixth annual Fall Fest on Saturday, September 19, at St. Vincent’s School, where community groups and businesses offered information and displayed their wares to the local community.

Paul Nichols rides across Canada for veterans

On September 17, the students of Dollard-des-Ormeaux School near CFB Valcartier had the honour of meeting Paul Nichols. A veteran, Nichols was a master corporal with the Calgary Highlanders and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Bosnia and Croatia in the 1990s.  

The story behind Ruelle John-Goudie

Ruelle John-Goudie is named after John Goudie (1775-1824), one of many Scottish shipbuilders who immigrated to North America. He began his career as a shipwright in Detroit in 1795 and, by 1800, Goudie was operating his own shipyard on the St. Charles River in the Saint-Roch district of Quebec City.

Arts in Action brings swing to Morrin Centre

The Jazz Age took over the historic Morrin Centre on September 12 as dancers from the Port-O-Swing dance school presented a swing dance workshop in College Hall. This was the first event in the Arts in Action cultural performance series, which consists of a series of monthly workshops on different styles of dance, theatre and creative writing.
