Remembering our military at Mount Hermon Cemetery

Mark Brennan, executive director of Mount Hermon Cemetery, invites members of the community to take part in a special Remembrance Ceremony and Commemoration of Victoria Cross recipient Sir Richard E.W. Turner, to be held at the cemetery on Wednesday, October 26, at 11 a.m.  

New interpretation centre at Domaine Cataraqui

Sillery has a rich history which can now be discovered at the Domaine Cataraqui. Last month the large estate on Chemin Saint-Louis unveiled its newest feature, an interpretation center located near the entrance of the property, which for the past few weekends has welcomed over 1,000 guests.

Spooky Monster Bash at the Morrin Centre

Come join our Monster Bash on Saturday, October 29, at 10:30 a.m.! Meet us in the library for a special Halloween costume party! Kids aged from 5 to 10 will have the opportunity to participate in a spooky book reading, as well as a Halloween arts and crafts activity. Candy and refreshments will be served.

OBITUARY: Thomas Joseph “Tom” Moore

Thomas Joseph “Tom” Moore died on October 5, 2016, at age 88 at the CHUL in Quebec City. He was husband of the late Andrée McNicoll and the father of the late Tommy Moore and Cynthia (Yves Blackburn) Moore.

Opéra de Québec offers two Puccini works

To launch its 33rd season, the Opéra de Québec is presenting a program comprising two of Giacomo Puccini’s celebrated Triptyque: the tragic Suor Angelica and the comic Gianni Schicchi. Four presentations will take place at the Grand Théâtre on October 22 at 7 p.m., and on October 25, 27 and 29 at 8 p.m.

Teach For Canada teachers back to school in First Nations communities

Students in 13 First Nations communities in Northern Ontario were welcomed back to school by 55 Teach For Canada teachers this year. Twenty-three of these teachers are returning to remote communities in Northern Ontario to teach for a second year, and they will build on the trust they developed last year with students, colleagues, and community members.
