Building Hope: Protecting Development

Understanding the reason for mass migration is key to understanding how to help refugees and asylum-seekers. This was one message discussed at the Building Hope: Protecting Development event held at the Morrin Centre on May 4.

Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier looks back on its cemeteries

The Municipality of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier is working on a history of its cemeteries. The purpose of the project is to identify all the people who have been interred there, to restore stones and monuments that have been damaged or have deteriorated over time, and to create a beautiful memorial park. 

OBITUARY: Barbara Sangster SIMONS

Barbara Sangster Simons died on May 5 in her 91st year. Barbara was loved by her husband Roger, brother John (Elia Chiasson) sister Patricia (Don LePoidevin), daughter Susan (Andre Hammond), son Peter, granddaughter Jennifer (Stephen Trewin), grandson Jeffrey (Laura Maraj), great-granddaughters Madeleine, Alice, her niece, nephews, and many friends in the community.

On May 6, in celebration of Valcartier’s 200th anniversay, a painting of the John Neilson house was presented by Audrey Dacres Smith and family to the Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier Municipality.
