The last Wednesday of February is known as Anti-Bullying Day in Canada. It's also known as Pink Shirt Day. It originally started as a protest against a bullying incident at a Nova Scotia high school in September 2007. The victim, a Grade 9 student in the small community of Cambridge, wore a pink polo shirt on his first day of school.

St. Patrick's High School has been a buzz with social action activities once again this year. The students and staff are involved with numerous community projects that are creating socially conscious citizens.

International Women’s Day

The 8th of March was officially designated as International Women's Day by the United Nations in 1975 and it has been celebrated for over 100 years to celebrate women worldwide. This year's theme in Canada will be ‘Strong Women, Strong Canada' celebrating women's roles in the economic prosperity of rural, remote and northern communities.

Hitchcock Film Festival

It was great reading your (Marie White's) recent articles on the Alfred Hitchcock film festival. I am proud to mention that two of my uncles ‘'starred'' in the movie. Indeed, Frank Dollard and George Quinn played two of the detectives in the movie. Unfortunately, neither received an Oscar for his work. Those folks in Hollywood know nothing about raw talent!

LHSQ Annual General Meeting

Wrecked at St. Patrick’s High School

Wrecked, a play by Canadian writer Chris Craddock, will be performed at St. Patrick's High School (75 de Maisonneuve, Quebec) on Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. A short reception will follow the performance.

This is a VEQ and Canadian Heritage sponsored event, ‘Collective Voices,' with students from St. Patrick's and Quebec High Schools.
