Kids dream big at Disney on Ice

At the Disney on Ice show Dream Big, presented March 11 at the Vidéotron Centre, children saw not just one fairy tale, but a panoply of their favourite Disney characters under one roof. The addition of royal sisters Elsa and Anna, from the 2013 animated film Frozen, was the main attraction for many kids.

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish hockey team has conquered Washington, D.C. Playing in the 2018 Congressional Cup Spring Classic in the American capital, the Green and White won all four of its games and allowed only three goals on its way to the gold medal.

Local country combo Les Chercheurs d’Or stuck it rich in the crowded bar of District Saint-Joseph on March 8, as part of the Apéros FEQ (Festival d’Été de Québec) concert series. With their unique sound, this band of five talented musicians was well worth listening to and even more impressive performing live.

Eight St. Pat’s grads to play in CEGEP football programs next season

Recruiting season has come and gone for CEGEP football programs across Quebec. This is the time of year where coaches and recruiters try to get the best possible graduating students onto their school’s football team for the fall.

The 2018 Paralympic Winter Games have begun in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Games opened March 9, and after four days of events, Canada had a total of seven medals.

The wearing of the green and St. Patrick’s Day

On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish, or at least Irish at heart. Green is everywhere; we drink green beer and eat corned beef and (green) cabbage, and wearing something green seems essential.

How did this tradition start? Why do we wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? When did the colour green replace St. Patrick’s original colour, which was sky blue?
