The proud graduates of the Quebec High School Class of 2012 entered Webster Auditorium last Friday evening to the sound of a piper of the 78th Fraser Highlanders. Smiles from the sea of parents shone in the darkened gymnasium with help of an endless stream of camera flashes.

QHS Principal Warren Thomson welcomed those who had gathered to witness the important rite of passage.

Michel Bell launches Victoire

Local artist Michel Bell launched his first book, Victoire at the Capitole Theatre on May 31. The coffee-table book filled with some of the most beautiful images in sport was created through Bell's partnership with award-winning photographer, Bob Martin.

Dinner and Cabaret in Carter Hall a delicious combination

On Saturday, June 9, some 90 people filled Carter Hall to capacity to enjoy the first Dinner and Cabaret put on by the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity as a fundraiser for the parish.

The menu featured spaghetti "à la Bishop" (Dennis Drainville), salad, hot garlic bread, chocolate or vanilla cake and two bottles of wine (one red, one white) per table of eight people.

GAIA takes 'global perspective' to new heights

Guy Laliberté is a larger-than-life Quebec native who has significantly raised the profile of his home city and province, the circus arts, and more recently, global concerns about access to safe water.

In his most recent project, GAIA, Laliberté takes a direct shot at the water issue.

May and June 2012 have been a sky-gazer's delight - a supermoon, solar and lunar eclipses, and just this past week, the Transit of Venus. Let's take a closer look at the activity that recently generated such a hubbub.

A partial solar eclipse was visible in western and central North America on May 20, and a partial lunar eclipse was visible on June 4.

Excitement was running high for the 107 graduating students from St Patrick's High School as they gathered with their classmates in front of the Palais Montcalm on the evening of Friday 25 May for their group photo. They and proud family members and friends filled the auditorium shortly after this photo was taken.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was François Turgeon.
