An ecumenical Christmas Eve service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Valcartier, led by Rev. Katherine Burgess and Bishop Bruce Myers.

Cocktails, beds and circus dreams at the Ice Hotel

The Ice Hotel at Village Vacances Valcartier is now open to visitors and overnight guests. As of Jan. 7, only 15 rooms have been completed, while workers and artists continue to create and build the remaining rooms and halls. With only the main hall, the bar and the chapel completed, the hotel opened on Dec. 23, 10 days earlier than expected.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ralph Noseworthy announce his passing on December 26, 2017, at his home in Stoneham.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 251 St. Peter’s Road, Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, QC.

Holy Trinity to host benefit for shooting survivor, family

Generations of Quebecers will remember where they were when word first began filtering out that shots had been fired at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec. On the evening of Jan. 29, a gunman entered Quebec City’s largest mosque at prayer time and opened fire, killing six men and injuring eight. Suddenly, the eyes of the country and the world were on Quebec City.

A tribute to former QCT journalist Ralph Noseworthy

We are saddened to learn of the death of former journalist and television reporter Ralph Noseworthy, whom I met in April 2015.

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Noseworthy said that as a young man he had been a professional diver who worked for the government of Canada and participated in an excavation of the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.

International snowboarders compete at Le Relais

International speed snowboarders raced down the slopes of Le Relais last weekend. The local ski resort is a regular stop on the NorAm (North American) competition circuit. 

Quebec Remparts back on the ice with new players

Attention Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) fans – the end of the CEGEP and university terms marks the beginning of the trading period for all players in the 18-team league.

The Quebec Remparts are part of this. Gone are forwards Luke Kirwan and Derek Gentile, along with defenseman Gabriel Villeneuve.
