Up and coming Quebec City bands are always fun to watch, and the Lemelin Carr Duo is no exception! Formed just two months ago, the blues band has already gotten their groove and continues to book shows from Quebec City to Montreal.

February 15 is National Flag Day

The flag is the symbol of the nation’s unity, for it, beyond any doubt, represents all the citizens of Canada without distinction of race, language, belief or opinion. – The Honourable Maurice Bourget, Speaker of the Senate

The National Flag of Canada celebrates its 52nd birthday this month. The first truly Canadian flag was raised on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on February 15, 1965.

Crossing Canada on The Great Trail

For hundreds of years, people have arrived in Quebec City by boat and later by train, airplane or automobile. Early immigrants saw Quebec City for the first time after being at sea for months. On Sunday, February 5, a 25-year-old woman from Edmonton first laid eyes on Quebec City after walking across Canada for almost two years.

Penumbral eclipse of the moon

Shortly after the full moon rose on Friday, February 10, there was a penumbral eclipse. A full moon in the month of February is also called a Snow Moon, but for four hours that evening, it looked rather a dull grey and became very dark on one side as it passed through a part of Earth’s shadow.

A backwards generational shift

I did not watch the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the new President of the United States of America, nor did I listen to his inaugural speech – I went skating instead.

Réal Cloutier’s no. 10 retired, joins other Remparts legends

The month of February started off with a week full of activities for junior hockey fans in Quebec City.

But the night of February 3 belonged to a local hero, Saint-Émile’s own Réal “Buddy” Cloutier, who saw his number 10 retired and hoisted to the rafters of the Videotron Centre, before the Remparts lost to the Rimouski Océanic 4-1. 

St. Pat’s and Quebec High take CQSB basketball banners

It was a Quebec City sweep at this year’s Central Quebec School Board (CQSB) basketball tournament held at Shawinigan High School.
High school teams from Schefferville, Trois-Rivières, La Tuque, Jonquière, Thetford Mines and Shannon, were in the tournament, along with St. Patrick’s High School, and Quebec High School Blazers.
