Love of helicopters is in the air!

A global celebration of helicopters known as “World Helicopter Day” took place on August 21. Created in 2015 by an Australian helicopter pilot named Mick Collin, the event, soon to be a tradition, is held on the third Saturday in August. It was a celebration much anticipated by Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère in Quebec City.

Saint-Roch throws a neighbourhood party for all

For the fifth year in a row, EnGrEnAgE threw a party on August 20 in the culturally and economically diverse neighbourhood of Saint-Roch. Activities took place on the parvis of Église Saint-Roch, a meeting place for people from all walks of life. 

Festibière 2016: a great way to end summer

The party was always rockin’ at Festibière de Québec with bands and entertainers, and the food available from the many restaurant trucks was great. There was something for everyone: ribs, burgers, smoked meat sandwiches and more. 

The ups and downs of Quebec City’s staircases

The topography of the river sides of Quebec City’s Upper Town results in two diametrically opposed arrangements for access to the lower district. The slope facing the St. Charles River is gentle and favours the use of hills. Along the St. Lawrence, the gradient is steep and requires a series of staircases to reach the top.

School will soon be back in session, and with the new school year come new schoolbooks, new supplies and new binders full of new homework. With so many new things on the horizon, parents would be wise to make sure their children don’t fall into bad old habits when it comes to backpack use.

The first edition of Nageons Au Témis a real success.

Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac held their first open-water swimming race on August 13. An Olympic discipline since 2008, this sport is growing in popularity. Sixty-seven swimmers registered for the long-awaited Nageons au Témis. 

Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier Family Day

Family Day in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier was a huge success. On Saturday, August 20, the bright sun and warm weather brought out families and friends to enjoy a few baseball and soccer games, the best of the summer. In between games, the slushies, hot dogs and beverages flew off the counter as fast as the teens of the Club des Ados could dish them out.
