Members of the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign gather at Eastern Quebec Learning Centre to prepare the 22nd campaign. In front are Nectaria Skokos and Amy Bilodeau of Jeffery Hale Community Partners and Campaign chairwoman and QCT assignment editor, copy editor and journalist Shirley Nadeau.

The 22nd annual Community Christmas Hamper Campaign has officially begun! A team of elves has been hard at work preparing the campaign for many months now and will be even busier as the Dec. 16 delivery day approaches.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together to deliver some goodness to families in need. The team at VEQ has also been involved in many different aspects of the campaign over the past few years. In my role as executive director of VEQ, I can confirm that it is truly inspiring to witness the generosity of our community first-hand.

What our community has accomplished every Christmas for the past 22 years is nothing short of a miracle. We need you to help make it happen once again!

Two major fundraising events are coming up soon. You’re invited, so mark your calendars.

The International Lunch takes place at Eastern Quebec Learning Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at noon. This year’s cuisine is Japanese and all proceeds go to the campaign. Reserve your tickets by calling 418-654-0537, ext. 2852, by email at [email protected], or online at Eventbrite (type this shortened link into your browser:

VEQ’s Holiday Happy Hour is happening at the Morrin Centre on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. RSVP by Friday, Dec. 1 by calling 418-683-2366, ext. 221. Proceeds from the cash bar go to the campaign. Be sure to bring your canned goods and (if it’s snowing...) your indoor shoes.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at both of these fun events for a great cause.
