Bargain hunters shopped in the dark at the Saint Brigid’s Guild Sale, during a blackout that hit various parts of the province because of a violent storm.

On Nov. 1, the province of Quebec was hit by a violent storm, with 100-km/h winds and heavy rain. Around noon, various regions and cities lost hydro power one by one. Here in Quebec City, the Eastern Québec Learning Centre (EQLC), which was hosting the biannual Saint Brigid’s Guild Sale, was in complete darkness by mid-afternoon, making shopping conditions Halloween eerie to say the least.
