I met Ursula Fusk Paré (aka “Irish”), English-language proofreader sublime (as proven in her unparalleled job on the Québec Budget Speech, et al. over the years), in April 1971, my first day of work for the Québec Government.

Memorial Service for Jack Layton to be held at Chalmers-Wesley United Church

Most of us know that Jack Layton was a Quebec resident from Hudson, but perhaps many of us don’t know that he was also a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada. The Session of Chalmers-Wesley United Church was approached by members of the local New Democratic Party who requested the opportunity to hold a memorial service reflecting Mr. Layton’s own religious background.

Rita Brown

Surrounded by loving friends, Rita Brown passed away at St. Brigid's Home in Sillery on July 12, 2012 on the eve of her 94th birthday. She leaves behind her dear friend Geraldine (Gerry) Browne and several nieces and nephews.

Rita is now reunited with her beloved parents George Brown and Agnes Murphy and her brothers and sisters.
