English Quebecers are not Wolfes under the bed

The recent decision to not hold the reconstruction of the battle of the Plains of Abraham has truly upset and insulted me. Living in Quebec City I am no stranger to the will that Quebec becomes its own nation. The importance of preserving French language and Quebec culture are both issues I consider very important.

The blog provides a daily sampling of "good songs" accompanied by thoughtful and witty reviews.

When should we speak up?

Last week a complaint was made to the Carnaval de Québec regarding an ice sculpture that was displayed on the Plains of Abraham. The sculpture, carved by the Ukrainian team, was based upon a Christmas folktale that dates back at least 200 years with six allegorical characters, each representing a different facet in Ukrainian peasant life.

Feds announce $13 mil for Shannon water pipeline

Still waters may run deep but for the municipality of Shannon it took three years of rocking the federal government's boat to receive the $13.3 million necessary to connect the municipality's aqueduct system to a new fresh water source. Conservative Minister Josée Verner made the grant official at a press conference at Shannon's Community Centre last Friday.

Obama visit a good sign for Canada-US relations: Consul General to Quebec City

With US President Barack Obama expected to land in Ottawa Thursday for his first official international visit, political pundits are expounding on the significance of the trip and speculating about what might be on the agenda for discussion between Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
