Long lines formed in front of the many provincial government-run cannabis stores throughout the country on legalization day, Oct. 17. People stood in line for several hours in all weather to buy cannabis legally for the first time. The Société québécoise du cannabis has two locations in Quebec City, one on rue Bouvier near Boul. Pierre-Bertrand and another on ch. Sainte-Foy near Les Halles de Sainte-Foy, where this photo was taken. There's also one location in Lévis.

Two days before the legalization of cannabis by the federal government, the Fondation Jean-Lapointe unveiled the results of a major survey aimed at better understanding the concerns of Quebec parents regarding cannabis legalization.
