Wendake: new site, new tastes and honouring traditions


It was hard not to notice something different about the venue of the traditional dancing component of the Wendake Pow Wow last week.

Chalmers-Wesley United Church, will be celebrating the Fête de la Ville de Québec on Sunday, July 3, with a special program to which all are welcome. From 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., organist Jean Côté will give a free concert. A Cream Tea, with scones, jams, cream and lots of tea, will be served in the lower hall from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., for $10.

The Ville de Québec announced that Gilles Lamontagne, the Mayor of Quebec City from 1965 to 1977, died on June 14 at age 97.

Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph (QCT) journalists attended the Quebec Community Newspaper Association’s annual Better Newspaper Awards ceremony in Pointe-Claire last Friday evening and came home with armloads of awards.
