The story behind Rue Hérelle

Félix-Hubert d’Hérelle was a self-taught bacteriologist.
This street is named in honour of bacteriologist Félix-Hubert d’Hérelle (1873-1949). He was born and died in Paris, but lived in Montreal for a number of years. His work contributed to the advancement of research on infectious diseases.
Basically a self-taught scientist, he had only a high school education in Paris, and attended a few lectures at the University of Bonn in Germany.
