Rue Emerson is located in Val-Bélair not far from Rue d'Édimbourg, looking east towards the valley of the Rivière Saint-Charles and the distant ski hills of the Laurentians.

Rue Emerson is named after Ralph Waldo Emerson, the famous American intellectual, lecturer, and poet. He was a sought-after speaker and author of many notable essays, the first of which was "Nature," in 1836.
