The story behind Rue du Colonel-Mathieu

Colonel Paul Mathieu commanded the Régiment de la Chaudière during the D-Day landings in Normandy in 1944.

This street is named in honour of Colonel Paul Mathieu (1907-1976). He was born in Quebec City and studied at the Séminaire de Québec and Université Laval, then worked for the Royal Trust Company from 1930 to 1939.
