St-Hubert Derby on Valentine’s Day

Lana Dufour of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier carefully guides her horse and sled around the course. The horse and sled must pass between the pairs of pylons without making the tennis balls perched on top fall, or a five-second penalty will be added to their time.

Cold hands, warm heart” – this is what the spectators at the St-Hubert Derby must have been thinking on this extremely cold St. Valentine’s Day. But judging by the size of the crowd, many people were willing to put up with the cold in order to see the 35 competitors and their athletic horses. The show was well worth it.
